Dunes of Tatón, Saujil, and Medanitos

To the north of Fiambalá, very close to the town of Saujil, a massive 90-metre dune with a 25° slope offers one of the best sandboarding experiences you can have.
Passing Saujil and Medanitos, the village of Tatón will surprise you with the world’s highest dune: it is 1,234 metres high and at 2,845 metres above sea level.

Dune of Cafayate
Salta

If this is your first time sandboarding, a good start is the Dunes of Cafayate, a dream-like location in Valles Calchaquíes of Salta. They are between 25 and 30 metres high and only 8 kilometres from the centre, on National Route 68.
You can visit them all year round. Cafayate is 191 kilometres from Salta’s capital, and you can get there by car or bus.

Huancar Hill in Abra Pampa
Jujuy
This is one of the places sandboarding lovers go after. Huancar in Abra Pampa is at 3,500 metres above sea level, and 250 metres high. This mountain rises in the immensity of the Puna, with a sand slope and a lagoon packed with flamingos at its foot.
Due to its height and size, these dunes are only for skilful people with experience. You can visit them all year round, and its access is 6 kilometres to the south of Abra Pampa, on National Route 9.
