El Chaltén is a mountain town known as the National Trekking Capital, which lies inside Los Glaciares National Park. The most sought-after trails are Glaciar y Laguna Piedras Blancas, Laguna Torre, Glaciar Huemul, Laguna de los Tres, Laguna Toro and Loma del Pliegue Tumbado. These trails can be done in a day or over several days, staying at the free camping pitches located among the park’s trails.
